CSR – corporate social responsibility and sustainability

The fact that corporations have social responsibilities and production should be sustainable are not just new-fangled buzzwords in the DOVISTA Group. Corporate Social Responsibility has been an integrated part of our approach to doing business ever since we started in 1941.

The DOVISTA Group’s approach to CSR is expressed in our mission and vision, and it forms the basis of our shared basic values. Right from the start in 1941, we have been developing and manufacturing products that improve people’s everyday lives and make a contribution to society. And we have always strived to treat our employees, customers, local communities and shareholders better than most other companies.

Our corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts focus on the following four main areas:

People

In the Western world, people spend some 90% of their time indoors.
The DOVISTA Group develops and manufactures windows and doors that bring daylight and fresh air into people’s lives, while offering them a view of the outside world. Through our long-standing focus on a holistic approach to product development, functionality and user-friendliness, we also strive to improve the health, security and quality of life of the people who live with our windows and doors.

In 2009, the DOVISTA Group set up an independent knowledge and information centre, LIVINGlab by DOVISTA. Its purpose is to investigate and offer information on how windows can be used to create a healthier indoor environment for people, and in an environmentally friendly way.

The environment

Through our continuous efforts to optimise the functionality and technical performance of our products, we help reduce the need for heating, increase the use of natural light and allow natural ventilation with outside air, all of which reduces the overall energy consumption and emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses.

By consistently focusing on quality, product lifetime, minimal environmental impact of materials and resources used, and increasingly also the reusability of our products, we strive to reduce the environmental impact of our products, throughout their life cycle.

In 2009, the DOVISTA Group set up an independent knowledge and information centre, LIVINGlab by DOVISTA. Its purpose is to investigate and offer information on how windows can be used to create a healthier indoor environment for people, and in an environmentally friendly way.

Society

The DOVISTA Group manufactures products that make a valuable contribution to society in general, to the people who use them, and the environment. As a flexible, adaptable, financially sound and well-run company, we contribute to the positive development of the communities we are part of.

The return on our investment in the companies in our group, together with contributions from other parts of the VKR Group, is channelled back to society through the two charitable foundations, the VILLUM FOUNDATION and the VELUX FOUNDATION in the form of financial support for scientific and technical research, and for social, cultural and environmental projects. In 2014, the two foundations donated a total of DKK 1.1 billion to charitable purposes.

Employees

In all the companies that form part of the DOVISTA Group, we put a lot of effort into making sure that everybody who works for us does so in a good, safe and healthy work environment. One industrial injury is one too many, which is why we focus especially on preventive measures. We make available the resources needed to provide a physically, socially and mentally healthy work environment, and the resources are allocated in a close cooperation between management and employees. Dialogue is the best way to ensure concrete results and make a safe working environment even safer.

In case of serious illness or injury, the Employee Foundation offers support for everybody working in the DOVISTA Group and their close relatives.
